Embroidered fragment

In the 18th century, embroidery with plant ornaments using the satin stitch is spreading in Ukraine. In embroidery, the baroque style was manifested in lush exotic flowers, which have a delicate pattern, sophisticated petal endings, complicated curls, whimsical shoots, that curl along the entire field of the ornament.
Whole composition is symmetrically. Stylized images of a lotus, tulip-like and multi-petal flowers alternate rhythmically. Flowers are depicted flatly in longitudinal and transverse dissections. The central parts of the flowers are embroidered with gold threads using the attaching technique. The contrasting use of green, blue, red and beige colors gives the composition extraordinary decorativeness and festivity.
