Description

Kopie zweier Edikte des Germanicus während seiner Ägyptenreise 19 n.Chr.:
Im ersten verbietet er die gewaltsame Requirierung von Booten oder Lasttieren für seinen Tross; dies soll nur auf Anordnung seines Sekretärs Baebius und gegen Entschädigung geschehen. Zuwiderhandlungen sollen als Raub angesehen werden.
Im zweiten Erlass verwahrt sich Germanicus gegen Titulaturen, die nur dem Kaiser zustehen. Für den Fall, dass sich die Bevölkerung widersetzt, kündigt Germanicus an, seine öffentlichen Auftritte zu reduzieren.

Γερμανικὸς Καῖσαρ Σεβαστοῦ υἱός, θεοῦ Σεβαστοῦ υἱωνός, ἀνθύπατος λέγει· εἰς τὴν ἐμὴν παρουσίαν νῦν ἤδη ἀκούων ἀγγαρείας πλοίων καὶ κτηνῶν γείνεσθαι καὶ ἐπισκηνώσειςἐπὶ σκηνώσεις καταλαμβά νεσθαι ξενίας πρὸς βίαν καὶ καταπλήσσεσθαι τοὺς ἰδιώτας, ἀναγκαῖον ἡγησάμην δη λῶσαι, ὅτι οὔτε πλοῖον ὑπό τινος ἢ ὑποζύγιον κατέχεσθαι βού λομαι, εἰ μὴ κατὰ τὴν Βαιβίου τοῦ ἐμοῦ φίλου καὶ γραμματέως προσταγήν, οὔτε ζενίας καταλαμ βάνεσθαι. ἐὰν γὰρ δέῃ, αὐτὸς Βαίβιος ἐκ τοῦ ἴσου καὶ δικαίου τὰς ξενίας διαδώσει. καὶ ὑπὲρ τῶν ἀγγαρευ ομένων δὲ πλοίων ἢ ζευγῶν ἀποδίδοσθαι τοὺς μισθοὺς κατὰ τὴν ἐμὴν διαγραφὴν κελεύωκελεύωι. τοὺς δὲ ἀντιλέγοντας ἐπὶ τὸν γραμματέα μου ἀνάγεσθαι βού λομαι, ὃς ἢ αὐτὸς κωλύσει ἀδι κεῖσθαι τοὺς ἰδιώτας ἢ ἐμοὶ ἀναν γελεῖ. τὰ δὲ διὰ τῆς πόλεως διατρέ χοντα ὑποζύγια τοὺς ἀπαντῶν τας πρὸς βίαν περιαιρεῖσθαι κωλύω. τοῦτο γὰρ ἤδη ὁμολογουμένης λῃστείας ἐστὶν ἔργον. Γερμανικὸς Καῖσαρ Σεβαστοῦ υἱός, θεοῦ Σεβαστοῦ υἱωνός, ἀνθύπατος λέγει· τὴν μὲν εὔνοιαν ὑμῶν, ἣν αἰεὶ ἐπιδείκνυσθε, ὅταν με ἴ δητεεἴδητε, ἀποδέχομαι, τὰς δὲ ἐπιφθόνους ἐμοὶ καὶ ἰσοθέους ἐκφωνήσεις ὑμῶν ἐξ ἅπαντος παραιτοῦμαι. πρέπουσι γὰρ μόνῳ τῶι σωτῆρι ὄντως καὶ εὐεργέτῃ τοῦ σύνπαντος τῶν ἀνθρώπων γένους, τῷ ἐμῷ πατρὶ καὶ τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ, ἐμῇ δὲ μάμμῃ. τὰ δὲ ὑμέτερα ἐν ὑποπαρετια ἐστὶν τῆς ἐκείνων θειότητος, ὡς ἐάνἐάμ μοι μὴ πεισθῆτε, ἀναγκᾶτέ με μὴ πολλάκις ὑμῖνὑμεῖν ἐνφανίζεσθαι.
