Dioskoros von Aphrodito, Anfang des Prologs eines Enkomions an einen Dux in iambischen Trimetern. Anlass des Gedichtes ist vielleicht die Amtseinführung des Dux. Dem Dux wird ein glückliches und wohlhabendes Leben gewünscht, in dem er seine Eparchie, gleichgesetzt mit einem Schiff, erfolgreich führt.

εἰς ταύτην καθʼ ἣν ὁμολογῶ χρεωστεῖν τῇ σῇ εὐγενείᾳ χρυσοῦ νομισματίων ἓξ δεσποτικῶν ἑκάστου παρὰ κεράτια ζυγῷ καὶ σταθμῷ δημοσίῳ ὑπὲρ τῶν σῶν γαμικῶν ἕδνων τῶν συμπεφωνημένων καὶ συναρεσάντων μεταξὺ σοῦ καὶ ἐμοῦ γίνεται χρυσοῦ νομισματίων ϛ παρὰ λ ζυγῷ καὶ σταθμῷ δημοσίῳ καὶ ταῦτα ἑτοίμως ἔχω παρασχεῖν τῇ σῇ εὐγενείᾳ ὁπόταν βουληθῇς δίχα πάσης ἀγνωμοσύνης καὶ ὑπερθέσεως κινδύνῳ καὶ πόρῳ καὶ τιμήματι τῆς ἐμῆς ὑποστάσεως γενικῶς καὶ ἰδικῶς τῆς καὶ ὑποκειμένης σοι εἰς τοῦτο.
