Description

Diese alte mechanische Handwaage gehörte Christine Schnell, geb. Balzhäuser, geb. 1843, Ehefrau des Johann Heinrich Schnell aus Mommenheim.
Mit dieser Waage zog sie - zu Fuß - frühmorgens auf den Markt zu Mainz, mehrfach in der Woche, um ihre landwirtschaftlichen Erzeugnisse zu verkaufen.

Die Initialen auf dem hölzernen Teil der Waage deuten auf eine frühere Besitzerin hin, wahrscheinlich die Großmutter Sibylle Schnell, geb. Werther, geb. 1813.

Diese Informationen stammen von Frau Dorothea Schnell, die Vorbesitzerin dieses Objekts und wurden uns 2022 von ihr mitgeteilt.
