Description

Bei der Beseitigung einer Stufe zwischen der Vierung und dem Ostarm der Krypta des Speyerer Doms wurde 1962 "eine große romanische Platte mit reichem Ranken- und Blattschmuck entdeckt, die umgekehrt als Fußbodenplatte verwendet war. Sie lag mit der Rückseite bündig im Plattenboden."
Die Platte zeigt ein fast quadratisches Relief mit dreisträhnigen Ranken und Lilien in zentraler Anordnung. 87 x 87 cm, 7 cm stark mit Falzrand.
Wohl aus der hochromanischen Bauphase des Doms stammend (Bau II), vermutlich einst Teil eine Schrankenanlage oder eines Ambo.
