Description

Erster Halswirbel (Atlas) eines Wollnashorns (Coelodonta antiquaris). Das Wollnashorn war neben dem Wollhaarmammut eines der prägenden Tiere der eiszeitlichen Kaltsteppe. Es starb ebenfalls mit den klimatischen Veränderungen zum Ende der letzten Eiszeit aus.
Das Objekt wurde handschriftlich beschriftet mit "Atlas (I. Altaswirbel) W.Nashorn" und "ausgestorben 8000 v.Chr. Fundort: Nieder- dedingh." Als Fundort wird eine Kiesgrube bei Niederdedinghausen (Lippstadt) genannt. Abweichend davon wird in der Vitrine "Mantinghausen" als Fundstelle bezeichnet.
