Description

Gips (Ca2H2o) ist ein sehr häufig vorkommendes Mineral. Es entsteht durch die Kristallisation aus mit Calciumsulfat gesättigtem Meerwasser. Im allgemeinen ist Gips farblos bzw. weiß. Durch Aufnahme von Fremdionen oder Beimengungen kann es auch rötlich, braun, grau oder grünlich erscheinen (hier: braun). Die Landschaft Mansfeld-Südharz ist zu weiten Teilen von Gipskarst geprägt.
