Verbandsabzeichen, schildförmig, ein sich aufbäumender Pegasus schnaubt einen Blitz aus den Nüstern; am Flügelansatz das ursprüngliche Air Force Symbol. Unten an das Schild angeschlossen ein Spruchband: 17th AIR FORCE.
Die 17. Luftflotte war von Oktober 1972 bis 30. September 1996 in Sembach stationiert. Heute befindet sich die 17. Luftflotte auf der Ramstein Air Base.
