Description

Die Serie entstand um 1911, als sich Illies erstmals intensiv mit der Technik des Pastells auseinandersetzte. Offenbar haben ihn die farbenfrohen Strandkörbe und -wagen im Wechsel des Lichts inspiriert. In Knocke-sur-Mer war Illies um 1911 in Begleitung seines Studienfreundes Ivo Hauptmann und dessen Eltern Gerhart und Margarete Hauptmann. Frappierend ähnliche Pastelle sind auch von Ivo Hauptmann bekannt.
