Description

Der "Schlafende Hermaphrodit" der Sammlung Borghese nach einer Bronzeplastik des griechischen Bildhauers Polykles aus dem 2. Jahrhundert v. Chr. erhielt 1620 ein Ruhelager von Lorenzo Bernini. In napoleonischer Zeit gelangte er nach Paris und ist heute im Louvre. Antike Marmorkopien finden sich in Paris im Louvre

Beschr.: Statua d' Androgino detta l' Ermafrodito Borghesiano dissotterrato sin dallo scorso secolo ne' fondamenti della Chiesa della Vittoria e trasferito/ nella Villa Pinciana ove si conserva posata sovra d' un letto di marmo opera del Bernino. / Al Sig.r Giuseppe Rogala Lewicki Conte Polacco Grand' Amatore delle belle Arti // Francesco Piranesi D.D.D.
(Die androgyne Statue, bekannt als der Borghesianische Zwitter, wurde im letzten Jahrhundert in den Fundamenten der Kirche Santa Maria della Vittoria ausgegraben und in die Villa Pinciana überführt, wo sie von Bernino auf einem Marmorbett aufbewahrt wird.
