Description

Hämatit (auch Eisenglanz, Blutstein) ist die häufigste natürlich auftretende Modifikation von Eisen-III-Oxid. Die frühere Bezeichung als Spiegelstein weist darauf hin, dass die Menschen das Mineral bereits in der Antike wegen seines starken Metallglanzes poliert und als Spiegel nutzten.
