Description

Natürliches Indigo von der Insel Java aus Niederländisch-Indien. Das nach seinem Herkunftsgebiet Ostindien benannte Pigment zeichnet sich durch seine intensive blaue Farbe aus. Bis zur Entwicklung von industriellen Syntheseverfahren gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde der Farbstoff zum Einfärben von Textilien verwendet. Auch heute noch werden mit Indigo Jeanshosen eingefärbt.
