This collector's set - and other comparable pieces - could be purchased locally as (locally) patriotic porcelain or souvenir porcelain. They often bear the stamp of the seller at the time, Carl Piepenbrock Wwe, a former Werdohl household goods and porcelain shop.

The Luther rose of the Werdohl town coat of arms was borrowed from the church seal of Werdohl's Reformed congregation. The history of the Werdohl town coat of arms begins on 8 November 1915 with an enquiry from the Amtsmann von Behren to Dr Hildebrand of the Deutscher Herold, Berlin, regarding the design of a coat of arms for a nail shield / war emblem for the municipality of Werdohl. Dr Hildebrand then produced the design for a nail shield / war emblem.

Numerous other souvenir porcelains with a representation of the present form of the town's coat of arms are known, in which the Luther rose has already been included.
