Auf einem Winkelhaken werden die Bleilettern zu Wörtern und ganzen Zeilen zusammengesetzt. Dieses bis heute wichtigste Hilfsmittel des Handsetzers geht wahrscheinlich auf Gutenberg zurück.
Hier zu sehen ist ein Winkelhaken mit inliegenden Schwabacher-Typen (Gutenberg). Geradezu klassisches Schriftsetzer-Handwerkszeug für Buchdruck. Mit dem durch Hebelzug festklemmbaren "Frosch" links wurde die Zeilenbreite eingestellt.
