Description

The standing naked youth, a victorious athlete, is about to offer a libation. The figure's structure already shows the first signs of a distinction between the standing leg and the playing leg (the right playing leg is relieved and slightly protruding) as well as the more naturalistic body forms of the austere style. He has tilted his head to his right. He has bent his right arm and is holding the bowl in his outstretched right hand. The hand of the lowered left arm touches the thigh and probably held a branch. Straight hair rolled up over a ribbon. The proportions with slender body and small head refer to the Attic art circle. (AVS)
