Vermutlich handelt es sich um ein nicht fertiggestelltes Produkt. Teile solcher polierter Schneckengehäuse wurden, versehen mit Metalleinfassung, Scharnier und Verschluss zur Herstellung von kleinen Döschen genutzt.
Im Firmenkatalog der "Louis Nicolai A.-G. Adorf i. Vogtl. Perlmutterwaren" werden Objekte dieser Art als "Rosenkranz-Bonbonnièren" oder "Bonbonnièren" bezeichnet.
