Egbert Adolf Hoyer Graf von der Asseburg (1847-1909), Sohn von Ludwig I. Graf von der Asseburg-Falkenstein, wirkte unter anderem als Präsident des deutschen Reichsausschusses für Olympische Spiele. Für den Altar der kleinen Kapelle der Burg Falkenstein stiftete er ein als Souvenir in Jerusalem erworbenes Standkruzifix.
