Das mit dem Sinnspruch "Bei des / Tages Lasten / soll der Mensch nicht / rasten" dekorierte Schneidbrettchen diente nicht nur zur Zierde, sondern wurde auch viel benutzt, wie zahlreiche Schnitt- und Kratzspuren auf der Glasur zeigen.
