Description

Das farbenfrohe Fossil eines Nadelbaumverwandten wirft für Paläontologen Fragen auf. Die blau-violette Verfärbung im Inneren geht auf die faserige, mikrokristalline Gefügevarietät des Minerals Quarz Chalzedon zurück. Entsprechende Erhaltungsformen sind für die Umgebung um Chemnitz-Kappel nahe der Neefestraße typisch. Mittels Kathodolumineszenz wird das Objekt untersucht, um die Ursachen dieser speziellen Verkieselung zu ergründen.
