Description

The Romans understood the genius as a deified personality with its seat in the forehead and as the power of the man encompassing his personality. As the genius of the people (genius populi), he could also be worshipped as the personification of the demos (people) or of individual rulers, e.g. genius of Augustus. (AVS)
