Autor des Werkes ist der Organist Otto Wangemann. Der dunkelrote Einband ist mit ornamentalen Prägungen verziert, der Titel silberfarben abgesetzt. Es umfasst 258 Seiten und einen Anhang mit Zeichnungen. Das Buch enthält die vollständige Umarbeitung der 1881 erschienenen Geschichte der Orgel Wangemanns.
