A New York Palota földszintjén működött a New York kávéház az 1900-as években, irodalmi és művészi asztaltársaságok, kávéházi szerkesztőségek törzshelyeként.
Az épületet Hauszmann Alajos, Korb Flóris és Giergl Kálmán közreműködésével tervezte meg és 1894. október 23-án megnyitotta meg kapuit.
