Der Wasserbock ist eines der häufigsten Großsäugetiere Afrikas.
Den hier gezeigten Schädel erhielten Dr. Ulrich Schmidt und Dr. Herbert Frankenhäuser auf ihrer Ruanda-Reise im Januar/Februar 1991 als Geschenk des ORTPN (Office Rwandais du Tourisme et des Parcs Nationaux) in Kigali. Der Schädel wurde mit Eingangsdatum 6. August 1991 am Naturhistorischen Museum erfasst.
