Description

Der größte Schlangenstern (Cheiropteraster giganteus) erreichte Durchmesser bis 50 cm. Besondere Kennzeichen sind ein großes, rosettenförmiges Mundfeld und eine von Armspitze zu Armspitze gespannte Haut, in die zahlreiche Kalkkörperchen eingelagert sind. Wahrscheinlich war der Körper kissenförmig aufgewölbt.
