Description

Mary Hillier, the author of A Pageant of Toys, is herself a collector of dolls. Her husband is an expert on Japanese art and her son has published Pottery and Porcelain 1700-1914 and writing a book on posters.
Dolls and Dollmakers traces the evolution of the doll from earliest times to the present day, with fascinating sidelights on the social history of each period, indicating how this influenced design and development.
