Gwen White has studied the history, the makers and the varying types, of European and American Dolls. Before beginning this present, definitive volume, she read contemporary diaries and searched for several years at the Patent Office in London, collecting doll-makers’ names and addresses their individual patents and the relevant dates, and copying the Marks deposited by them.
