In the geometric period, human representation remained inorganic and limited to small-scale. From the middle of the 7th century BC, sculpture again took on larger formats. Typical of this are the depictions of naked youths (kouroi), which follow a fixed type: as a characteristic crotch position, the left foot placed in front, a face with particularly large eyes, a strong nose and a bulging mouth, with a face surrounded by a row of hunchbacks. The statuette belongs to this type, even if it turns out much smaller than its 'big brothers'. (AVS)
