Magyar Nemzet was a national Hungarian daily newspaper for public and political affairs. Between its founding on 25 August 1938 and its closure in 2018, it lasted almost 80 years, making it one of Hungary's most patinaed newspapers. It has changed its form and political affiliations many times in its history. The newspaper ceased to exist on 11 April 2018, following the 2018 parliamentary elections. In May of that year, some of its staff founded Magyar Hang as its intellectual successor. The name of the defunct newspaper was taken over by Magyar Idők in February 2019.
