Gyermekkori barátja, Meszlényi János szobrász hatására és segítségével mind többet foglalkozott rajzolással, mintázással. Huszonnégy éves korában, 1969-ben iratkozott be a Magyar Képzőművészeti Főiskolára, ahol 1975-ben szerzett diplomát.
