Stephen L. Bowman (1946-2009)

Stephen L. Bowman (1946-2009) graduated from Canton High School in 1964, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1968 and Duke University in 1986 with a M.A. and Ph.D. in military history. He served in Vietnam as an Airborne Ranger and was awarded the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. During his Army career, he taught history at West Point, was director of the Military History Institute and Deputy Brigade Commander in Berlin, Germany. As a military historian he authored and co-authored four books and contributed to many others. After retirement from the Army, he moved to Berlin and thoroughly enjoyed leading tours of European battlefields. (Legacy.com 14.08.2018)
