Hermann Schlagintweit (1826-1882)

"Hermann Schlagintweit, Sakünlünski (13 May 1826 – 19 January 1882), also known as Hermann Rudolph Alfred von Schlagintweit-Sakünlünski,[needs IPA] was a German explorer of Central Asia. Brothers Hermann, Adolph and Robert Schlagintweit were commissioned by the British East India Company to study the earth's magnetic field in South and Central Asia.
